Standing Stone (Menhir) in Clay County, Alabama.
Made of local schist, this stone was described in 2004 as, "a large stone obelisk standing straight up in the center" of a stone mound. The structure is located at one of the highest elevations of Horn Mountain in the Talladega National Forest.
The stone and mound are presumed to be prehistoric due to the location, size, and context. Other stone mounds and walls are found north and north central Alabama.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The location given is only roughly accurate and should not be used, without additional information, for visiting the site. The location will be updated when possible.
