Stone Circle in Charlevoix County, Michigan.
Some argument appears to surround this mysterious site, a circle of naturally shaped glacial boulders of various size. In general the mystery is whether the circular pattern of the stones is entirely due to a pre-contact placement of stones or a more recent removal of stones that did not fit a circular pattern. However, the circle is recognize by the native people of the Anishinaabemowin and Anishinaabe culture as a sacred site.
Some of the stones exhibit incised lines and a stone at the center of the pattern appears to have been shaped in a circular hole in the center - perhaps for a sighting pole. A variety of astronomical alignments have been found.
Beaver Island is described as one of the most remote inhabited islands in the Great Lakes. The island website describes the stone circle. Beaver Island may be reached by regularly scheduled ferry. The location of the stone circle is not explicitly listed on the island website, the site location is for the island itself.
