stonetracker visited - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 5 Visited in late Oct 2023. This is very likely the location of the mound, as it matches the description and there are no other obvious candidates in the immediate area. It is just north of the main administrative building in the Landmark Memorial Gardens, adjacent to a parking lot.

Mathew Mound
Mathew Mound submitted by stonetracker : Reasonably (although not 100 %) sure this is the mound, as it conforms to the description and there is no other obvious candidate in the vicinity. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Artificial Mound in Great Lakes Midwest

The Mathew Mound (designated 33-HA-122) is believed to have been built by people of either the Adena or Hopewell culture during the Woodland period.

The mound is 4.5 feet (1.4 m) high with a diameter of slightly more than 60 feet (18 m). It has never been excavated but, based on the excavation of similar mounds, it is expected that the mound contains evidence of funerary practices such as grave goods and buried human remains. Because the mound is a potentially valuable archaeological site, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
