Barrow Cemetery in Cartago Provence.Found during an archeological impact study, prior to a building project, an indigenous burial grounds with remains dating back to 1,100 A.D. The roughly 400-square-meter lot in a suburban area is the site of 32 graves, with the remains of 26 individuals.
Human remains ranged from infants to adults. Also 98 ceramic artifacts, such as pots and bowls. The tombs were made out of river rock and topped with flat slabs with printed hallmarks. Bodies were stacked on top of each other, some up to five levels high.
Following excavation and study, the site is likely to be destroyed by the planned development.
