The mound is about 7 feet high and 54 feet in diameter. Although a slate gorget was found in the mound when the land was still in private ownership, there has been no scientific excavation or dating. Given the mound’s location and general appearance it seems typical of the Adena type of earthwork.
The mound can be seen along a trail that starts at the Highbanks Metropark Nature Center. The trail may be hiked during daylight hours when the park is open. The Highbanks Metropark entrance is off Ohio State Road 23. The mound can also be seen at a distance from Powell Road (Ohio State Road 750). However, there is no place to park along Powell, a very busy roadway.
