Marietta Earthworks - Quadranaou
Marietta Earthworks - Quadranaou submitted by bat400 : The Quadranaou, a flat topped earthen pyramid with centered ramps on each of the four sides. The slope you see at the extreme right and left are the ramps, and not the pyramid itself. Photo by bat400, October 2012. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Pyramid / Mastaba in Washington County, Ohio.
Part of the Marietta Earthworks Complex. This was the largest of two truncated pyramid earthworks in the complex. The original survey shows earthen ramps on all four sides, which were 188 ft by 132 feet. The earthwork was approximately ten feet high.

Originally a linear embankment with openings surrounded the Quadranaou, and three other flat-topped pyramids. Unfortunately, nothing visible remains of the associated enclosure today.
