Artificial Mound in Volusia County, Florida.

This mound was used as the foundation of a colonial era fort. Like many mound sites in Florida, the higher elevation it provided was the only feature early Europeans desired. Very little of the mound remains in this modern park that highlights the foundations of the fort.
