Magh Adair
Magh Adair submitted by enkidu41 : R 441770 This 6'6" high standing stone stands to the SW of Magh Adair, the traditional Inauguration Place of the kings of Thomond. Clearly truncated it would have been a most impressive menhir and must surely have had some ritualistic function. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Standing Stone in Co. Clare

The traditional inauguration site of the Kings of Thomond. It is set in an amphitheatre of low hills and has a large mound and othe earthworks. It is partly enclosed by an earthen bank on the E and by a stream on the SW by which stands this 6'6" truncated standing stone.

Magh Adair
Magh Adair submitted by enkidu41 : R 442770 This eroded site is traditionally the Inauguration Place of the kings of Thomond and consists of a large mound and other earthworks. It is bounded by an earthen bank in the E and a stream in the SW beyond which is a 6'6" high standing stone. Originally much higher this stone must surely have had some ritualistic function.
