Cairn in Iceland

Þorgeirsdys Burial Mound is located at the northernmost end of Iceland. Nearby is the Hraunhafnartangi lighthouse.
According to the Fóstbræðra saga, the Viking warrior Þorgeir Hávarsson is buried in the burial mound. He is said to have struck down a total of 14 opponents. He was beheaded and his torso was buried here, while the head was taken to Eyjafjörður fjord by his opponents (as a sign and proof of victory). According to saga, the head's tongue fell out and stared wide-eyed at the scared opponents when they mocked him in death. This frightened them so much that they buried the heads near the Eyjafjörður fjord.
The whole saga can be read here (in Icelandic): https://sagadb.org/fostbraedra_saga.is
