Lapa da Moura is on the "Trail of the Megalithism of Britelo". That trail starts in Britelo.

Take the church of Britelo as a reference point, but you cannot leave your car in the narrow and steep roads, so keep going uphill.

After leaving the village of Britelo, the paved roads become earth roads ; their surface are fairly bumpy. Don't despair, but go on foot in case of rain (circular trail, 11 km, 3 hr).

To visit Lapa da Moura, please read first the description and comments on our page related to the Porta do Lindoso.

Lapa de Moura is often used in Portugal to name dólmens.
Such names refer to the pre-Reconquista period, but were given far later, when the presence of Moorish was still collectively remembered but without precise knowledge of that period. Here is one along this trail : http://www.panoramio.com/photo/77429210
