The majority of the remains of royal tombs discovered at Sipan are here, with the finds displayed separately from a recreation with models of the tomb as uncovered.

Lord of Sipan’s face reconstructed using 3D imaging by bat400 on Tuesday, 27 September 2016
(User Info | Send a Message)
The face of an ancient Peruvian ruler, known as the Lord of Sipan, has been reconstructed with the help of 3D printing by Brazilian forensic anthropology experts in cooperation with Lima-based Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University after three months of hard work.

The Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum supported the research by providing data required to get closer to his face.

With the use of cutting-edge technology, researchers found out that the ancient Peruvian ruler was aged between 45 to 55 and was 1.67 meter tall.

“He was quite tall for that time period. He had a slightly strong muscle tone, which means he did not do any physical work, as befits his high rank,” Peruvian archaeologist Walter Alva told Andina news agency.

Archaeologists found grave of Sipan dynasty oldest ancestor in Lambayeque by coldrum on Friday, 02 October 2009
(User Info | Send a Message)
A group of archaeologists discovered what some believe to be the tomb of a Mochica nobleman or warrior in the archaeological complex of Huaca Rajada located in the northern Peruvian department of Lambayeque, reported the Peruvian archaeologist, Walter Alva, the Lord of Sipan's discoverer.

These remains would belong to the oldest ancestor of Sipan Dynasty discovered so far, and will be exhibited at site museum.

"The remains will be kept at Huaca Rajada museum, since it was built for that purpose. The remaining finds will be progressively installed once restoration is completed. All this is important for understanding the history of this monument," he said.

The Lord of Sipan and other two tombs were found in this archaeological complex in 1987. According to Alva, this recent discovery would constitute an important grave dated to the first century, at the beginning of Sipan dynasty.

"This find is very important for archaeological studies, because it would confirm that Sipan was also part of a series of sanctuaries built during the emergence of Mochica. Up to now, we thought Sipan Dynasty started in the middle stage but we can see Sipan was at the very beginning”, he said.
