Natural Stone in Mid Atlantic

This is by all accounts an amazing place, with a wall as high as sixty feet high in places. It is said to look as if it had been man made but it could not possibly be. The hard conglomerate ridge at the top of the hill must have eroded more slowly than the rock around it. It is said to have been sacred to the Indians, which I have no doubt it was, and they also used it as a lookout and possibly a beacon or smoke signal site as well. The view from the highest point is said to be stunning.

Anonymous, Thanks for posting that link! If you get photos when you visit, please contact me through this site. My name here is aluta, and you should be able to send me a private message. If not, post back here with a way to get in touch with you. I know a blog that would love to have good photos and a description of the place, although there's no money involved, just appreciation and credit.

I would love to go there myself but I'm a distance away and don't have transportation.

It's quite a large feature extending into the north-east.

Thank you for posting this. Great photos!

Where exactly off of Goldmine Road is this located? I know Goldmine Road intersects the Stony Valley Rail Trail. Is it near there or up the road heading toward Indiantown Gap?
People mention a parking area, but the only parking area I know off are the ones on either side of Goldmine Road located near the Rail Trail.

I have to get here to see this for myself.

Absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for posting these photos. I've been trying to find this place and all I was ever given was vague directions. Thanks to Google maps, I have a better idea where this is located along Goldmine Road.

During the summer, I have a feeling this would be prime rattlesnake territory though. Watch where you are stepping in the brush below the rocks.
