Maitland Tower
Maitland Tower submitted by jvenable : Site in Canada (Vote or comment on this photo)
The magnificent Maitland Tower is located on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great lakes. It was used as a wind driven grist mill, owned and operated by George Longley of Maitland. While the tower was built by Longley in 1827/28, there are claims that the structure dates from much earlier.

For more information of the claimed Pre-Columbian history of the historic Maitland Tower see here.

NOTE: Not a 'modern stone circle' but a 'modern' site for our purposes so listed in this category as the closest representative category.

I don't think this is suitable for the Megalithic Portal, it was built in 1827 - The Longley Mill Tower.

If it is indeed the Longley Mill Tower, then I agree. I'm confused by the link to the Maitland Tower in the main site text - are they one and the same building? The link gives a reasonably detailed history.
