I have visited· I would like to visit

GoodGirlMovieStar couldn't find on 5th Oct 2012 Tried to find this with a friend today. We parked at the end cul-de-sac of Lillybrook road and hiked east into the tall grasses/ woods. It looks from the aerial map like it is located at the edge of the woods near the edge of the wetland area. We found a couple of well-marked paths in the woods, but none seemed to lead to the rock formation. We are going to research some more and try again soon. To the lister of this site, or others who have visited the site: Please post the names of the roads that lead to the location. THANKS!!

Modern Stone Circle in Berkshire, Massachusetts, USA

The EarthGate Circle (EGC) is a Modern 'Holey Stone Menhir' erected in the center of 3 large angular, buried stones, creating a dais-like effect rising about 12" from ground level, and surrounding the menhir in a circular / triangular formation. The 3 buried stones appear to be relatively similar in size, at roughly 4.5 feet long, 3 feet wide, and of unknown depth. The site is easily assessable by automobile or foot, and lies at an elevation of roughly 1200' above sea level in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. The area is located on the outskirts of a small city, in a lightly suburban but more rural, neighborhood environment. Looking directly North from the menhir, one can clearly see Mount Greylock, an American Indian, and now modern-day, vortex point, and place of great power, and also the highest point in Southern New England, at 3491’ above sea level.

The EarthGate Circle lies in the east quadrant of a larger circular, grassy 'piazza' with a paved automobile road around it, and several homes. It has an 8.5' diameter, and it is used as a central point for local seasonal rituals and full moon gatherings. There are 3 other stones, in a mass as though fallen over, seemingly unconnected to the energy line associated with EGC; these are located about 70' to the southeast of EGC.

The menhir in the EGC was probably erected circa 1950-1970 AD, and is composed, as are the three that flank it, mainly of limestone with quartzite inclusions; it is thought that all of the stones composing EGC are native to the specific region. The menhir is one, huge single stone, and has a natural hole in the center that one can see straight through; it rises about 10 feet tall, by 1-2 feet thick, by 3-4 feet wide.

The EarthGate Circle and its central menhir is in energetic alignment with another circle of slightly larger diameter (The "Watcher Circle", diameter = 15') composed of hundreds of smaller stones, in the forest directly to the south of the EGC. The Watcher Circle is also a modern stone circle, which appears to have been created using stones from a destroyed earthen rampart or wall likely dating from the late 1700's during the American Colonial Expansion. Between the EGC and the Watcher Circle is a small flat stone (3' X 2' X 8"), in a glade in the forest, at the noticeably highest point between two distinct watersheds of the Housatonic River (Oossatunick (Algonquin) = "river over the mountains"). It appears that a relatively straight line can be drawn between EGC and the flat stone, and thence from the flat stone to the Watcher Circle, creating a dumbbell shape with the two circles on either end.
