Saihuite Stone
Saihuite Stone submitted by Michelledubois : This is a close up of the Saihuite Stone, in Aboncay, Peru. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Saihuite Stone is a monolith, a rock with more than 200 geometric and zoomorphic figures. The strange boulder is elaborately carved with representations of miniature houses, stairways, agricultural terraces and raised-bed gardens, streams and dozens of different animals.

It is assumed that this stone was used for ritual divination purposes, but no one knows how.

The Saihuite Stone is located in the Saihuite Archaeological Site which is 47 kilometres east of the community of Aboncay. Aboncay is located at the junction of two important Peruvian roads: the Caminos del Inca Road, an old road dating since Incan times, between the cities of Nazca and Cusco, and the Via de los Libertadores, between Ayacucho and Cusco.
