Alta-Falisa visited on 11th Mar 2014 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 3 Access: 5 Casiña da Moura has been re-erected here, somewhat arbitrarily, when the dam was built. The choice isn't very happy. In this scarcely populated region, there would have been plenty of suitable isolated spots on the other side of the dam -- and at respectful distance from Casola do Foxo (see separate entry).

Casiña da Moura submitted by Alta-Falisa : Casiña da Moura. The car doesn't add much to the photo ; it is meant to show how close you can come by car. The best time for a nice photo would be early morning, when the sun is on the other side. March 2014. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Burial Chamber (Dolmen) in Galicia

Casiña da Moura is a dolmen which, originally, was in the valley now submerged by water since the construction of the dam (Embalse de Salas).

There is no signpost anywhere, but the lake and in particular the dam are unmistakable landmarks.

The easiest access is over Maus de Salas, on the Northern shore of the lake. If needed, (provided you find somebody – Spanish or maybe Portuguese spoken, please) ask for your way out of the maze of narrow streets, but the village is not that large.

About 0.8 km after the village, at a T-junction, take the left branch – it leads to the lake. The road is paved or asphalted all the way to the dam, and beyond.
The dolmen has been re-erected about 50 m before the dam, at about 30 m on the right side of the road.

Note : There is another dolmen : "Casola do Foxo" (see separate entry), absolutely splendid, on the other end of the dam, about 150 m after the other end of the dam, on the left of the road. A real must !

Casiña da Moura
Casiña da Moura submitted by Alta-Falisa : Casiña da Moura : the dolmen is on the right of this photo, to be seen between the white building and the trees. The asphalted road just in front is the top of the dam I mention in the description. [ Note : about 150 m after the end of the dam, you will find the gorgeous "Casola do Foxo" (see separate entry) on the left of the road. ] March 2014.
