Cist in Co. Leitrim
The Journal of Antiquities gives the Irish grid reference of N 1046 9305 for this site, which lies in the wooded grounds of the Loch Rynn Castle estate, "situated beside a pathway beneath trees not far from the south-western shore of the small round-shaped Lough Errew (Erril) and close to the eastern shoreline of the much larger Lough Rynn and, the elongated Lough Clooncoe is just to the south, while the village of Mohill is two and a half miles to the north on the R202 road". See their entry for Druid’s Altar, Clooncoe, Co. Leitrim, Southern Ireland for more details and a list of reference sources.
The Journal and Megalithomania: Clooncoe Kist tell us that this cist curiously resembles a table and chair with a very large recumbent capstone 1.8m in width (but which may have originally stood upright). The Irish Megaliths entry for Clooncoe says this is "is a mysterious megalith, like a kist-tomb with attached standing-stone/grave-marker. A roof-slab 1.8 metres square is supported on low stones to form a small chamber. Adjoining the E end is a leaning, round-topped slab 2.2 metres tall and 1.3 metres wide, giving the megalith the appearance of a chair".
