A classic Bronze Age burial chamber which appears to be under (infrequent & sporadic) excavation, evidenced by the tarpaulins, pallets and spoil heaps next to it. It is open to the sky, although there are several large stones (some >1 x 1.5m) adjacent to the tomb which may have been either roofing stones or 'guardian' stones at the entranceway.
The entrance passage is typically narrow and about 4.5m long. It appears to face south or southeast, tho lack of compass and tape-measure renders all measurements and directions guesswork only.
A slight dog-leg marks the junction of passage and tomb and reveals an interesting feature; the doorway into the tomb proper is constructed of white coloured stones for uprights and lintel, whilst the rest of the tomb's construction is built in red iron stone.
The burial chamber is remarkably well constructed, with a symmetry to the megaliths as their flat surfaces are arced round to form a chamber approx 4 x 2m, the largest stones creating the back wall of the tomb.
Outside of the main burial chamber, about 1.5m distant from it, is another smaller wall of upright stones which appears to enclose it within a horseshoe shape and seems to join the main structure again at either side of the passage/tomb doorway.
To the rear of the grave is a well defined tail of earthworks running maybe 20 - 25m westward and tapering slightly as it goes.
Access isn't difficult. The GPS coordinates given are very good. Even when you think you've run out of road, you haven't. Pass a small domed shrine to St Rita and ford a dry stream. Continue to the converted windmill at the top of the small hill and bear right to a gravelled parking space. The passage grave is downhill in front of you approx 400m distant.
