I have visited· I would like to visit

kith visited on 29th Jun 2021 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 5 Access: 4 A superb example of two back to back Court tombs with a central chamber between the two. Access is over a small style at the roadside. Very dry when I visited but the approach to the raised site will probably be very boggy in wet weather. It is possible to park a single car on the opposite side of the road but it would be difficult to pull out again safety due to almost no view of oncoming traffic. Better to park about 600 yards away near what looks like a haulage yard opposite to some houses.

kith visited on 29th Jun 2021 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Excellent example of back to back Court tombs with additional central chamber.

Average ratings for this site from all visit loggers: Condition: 3 Ambience: 4.5 Access: 4

Court Tomb in Co. Cavan

A good example of a double- (or dual-) court tomb, built as two single-court tombs back-to-back, standing in a rectangular cairn 25 metres long. Each semicircular forecourt (N and S) leads into a 2-chambered gallery with sill-stones and jambs. A fifth chamber has been contrived in the space between the ends of each gallery. Stone pegs in the forecourts mark post-holes, suggesting an awning over the ceremonial spaces.
