Aramu Muru
Aramu Muru submitted by Michelledubois : Aramu Muru is a mysterious portal located near Lake Titicaca on the Peru/Bolivia border. This photo was taken by Brien Foerster. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Aramu Muru is a doorway carved into the rock in the Hayu Marca ("Stone Forest") overlooking Lake Titicaca. It was known to local people but only became known to the outside world in the 1990's.

Indians of the area call it the "Gate of the Gods" or “Gate to Heaven”. It is also referred to as "The Gateway of the Serpents", because of the huge snakes or serpents carved along side and over the portal/doorway.

Aramu Muru resembles a gate or portal, but nobody knows exactly who built it and for what purpose. Carved from the rock, it resembles a huge façade - 7 metres high and 7 metres wide. It lies below a strange rock formation (which resembles a snake or serpent). At the middle of the façade there is a "doorway" two metres wide. Inside this alcove, on the façade facing a person is a sunken section or dimple in the rock where it appears a disc is to be placed to operate the doorway or portal. However, there is no sign that this is a door can be entered.

Local villagers refuse to come close to the doorway/portal. They tell stories about people, and particularly children, disappearing through the solid rock.

Aramu Muru also known as Wilka Uta is a very Ancient industrial site. A huge water giant kneels facing to the left.It is wearing a mask ( cyclopean one-eyed myth buster)
It has a "flippered" hand. To the viewer's left is a reclining lion...facing the viewer. This site was a stone- cutting factory and metallurgy may also have happened here. Who were they? Poseidea...telchines.

Go to Youtube arthistoreebc for historical FACT. TY.

An amazing supposedly "interactive site" no doubt, But it would indeed be a bit odd to explain, if a few people actually "entered the portal" never to return, how would you explain that to the police and their relatives, also is there ANY living person who has made the "Journey" ? As we can see, people lining up to take a "go at it".

Don't know about explaining things to the police or relatives, it's a totally different culture to ours.
Also, one guy who went in and struggled to get back is in this video,

Doesn't the formation on top look like a person lying down?

This is just one of the many fascinating sites in Peru that have been shown and discussed on the show Ancient Aliens. I often don't agree with their analysis of sites, but I recommend the show because of the very good pictures and video of sites all over the world.

This particular site has not yet been mentioned on Ancient Aliens. Brien Foerster has been on Ancient Aliens many times, however, this site has not yet been shown. Giorgio Tsoukalos is a personal friend of mine, as are others involved with the series, and therefore, I am a fan of the show.

IMHO the first two years of the show were more informative than the series has been this year. AA seems to be reaching a bit with some of their theories thus far this year. I do know that Giorgio is aware of many more connections which he could be revealing to viewers, and I am not sure as to why they have chosen the path they are taking. When I asked him specifically about this, he changed the subject - TWICE!

One mutual friend has suggested to me that the silencing of MSM may be the reason. I don't know how true this theory is being the entire series is about The Ancient Alien Theory of Erich Von Daniken. The way the series presents "Ancient Alien Theorists believe . . . ", to me, is more of a suggestion as to what they want you to believe, rather than allowing you to draw your own conclusion.

    LOVE, LIGHT &PEACE!

The formation across the top is that of a snake/serpent. There is another formation/representation of a snake/serpent along the ground to the right of the portal as you are facing it. It's tail begins about 20 to 30 feet to the right of the portal and extends up the hill. The middle section of the side snake/serpent is missing due to erosion, but you can see the head at the other end.

Strange--I saw it on Ancient Aliens this year. Fascinating that you know these people. I would love to know what they really think. Also would love them to see some of the unusual stone sites near here, which are known by very few people.

Here is a site where some folks attempted to go through the portal, as many have, and what happened. There are many videos on Youtube of folks attempting to go through.

I've updated "Access" to 4. Easily accessible off the main road. I must have passed it once.

I had made the "access" more difficult because Amaru Muru is not included on any of the tour maps, and local villagers refuse to go near the place. This place is more than a mile from the shores of Lake Titicaca. There is nothing remotely close to the site, and it is approximately 12,800 feet up into the Andes. Brien Foerster with Hidden Inca Tours does take folks there.

It's about 65 kilometres from Puno and then only 500 metres from the main road. There must be several buses a day from Puno to Juli. Now that we know where it is, it looks dead easy to get to. It's even got a little site marker on Google maps.

Cheap, too. The fare on collectivo from Puno to Juli is US$0.75 according to the South American handbook.

I can see Michelles point here but we don't include difficulty/remoteness of motor travel in the Access, it's taken from a reasonably driveable road so here it would be a 4. Fascinating site and great photos - front page material

I'm not sure about the "local villagers refuse to go near the place". The main picture (which is by Edwin Harkness Spina at "Travel to Enlightenment") has a couple of locals in front of the carving - they don't seem too worried.

The locals are more fearful with their children than themselves during the day. There are claims that children have disappeared into the portal during the day, never to have been see of or heard of again. However, at night they claim the portal opens and various colors of light emanate from it, and therefore, they avoid it. All places seemingly have their own superstitions. Having read about folks who have attempted to go through the portal intentionally, and one man who claims to have travelled through it, I'm very curious about it's night-time state. I do know however, there is a stigma of fear that surrounds it with the locals. Some locals also tie it together with the UFO phenomenon and appearances, that they claim come out of Lake Titicaca. They revere these entities as their sky Gods, which some locals claim to be their ancestors.
