Standing Stone (Menhir) in Co. Kildare

Craddockstown Standing Stone is a massive and conical shaped stone around 5m tall with a slight curve on the western side giving it the appearance of a giant crooked finger. It is also leaning to the west but the wide base seems quite firmly seated and some packing stones are visible. Its evident that ploughing work comes very, very close to the stone and there are more than one or two scars on its sides, this may impact on the stones base if the packing stones are uprooted.

It is easily visible in the field opposite the entrance to Punchestown Racecourse.
