Heathy Hill Settlement
Heathy Hill Settlement submitted by Bladup : Heathy Hill Settlement with Samson Hill in the background (Vote or comment on this photo)
A Settlement and field system of stony banks and lynchets with at least Two huts on Bryher, Isles of Scilly.

Both are in poor condition and appear as platforms, 4.0m - 5.0m diameter, cut into a NE slope, to a depth of 0.7m. In each the entrance gap is, rather unusually, on the NE. The hut to the east was formed by terracing into the slope by up to 1.0m, the back wall being on an earth bank faced with stones averaging 0.5m by 0.5m and 0.2m thick. The side walls of the hut on the north and north east of the platform were represented only by low banks tapering away to ground level, and the entrance therefore not clearly defined. The internal diameter was 5.0m.

The hut to the west was of similar construction, but slightly higher up the slope, so terraced in by maximum 0.7m and so less well preserved around its south side. This hut was 3.5m in internal diameter. Again its front wall and entrance were not clearly defined
