Chambered Cairn in the Isle of Jura. A small chambered cairn of Clyde type situated on a shelf by a waterfall in a gully of the Brosdale Burn (or Abhainn na Stroine), just above the foreshore on the southeast of the island.

Most of the cairn material has gone but there remains the vestige of a kerb, together with one side stone of a chamber, a pair of portals and 1 other stone of a probable facade. The chamber was aligned WNW-ENE and the waterfall is framed by the portals when viewed along the line of the chamber, stunning! If visiting, it is best approached along the shore path from Jura House, Brosdale, allow up to an hour each way (c.2.5km).

Canmore site no. 38244.

Re: Cladh Chlainn Iain by Anonymous on Friday, 27 July 2007
Would anyone know which Clainn Iain, i.e. Clann Eain, this 'cladh' is named after? The reason I ask is I am doing a Y chromosome DNA test on several mid Argyle families. I've located a Clann Eain from the Kilmichael Glassary area, a fairly important family until they lost their charter in 1479. I would think it is possible that this is the Clann Iain of this Cladh. I would appreciate any comments...
