Holy stone
Holy stone submitted by tiompan : Kilchrennan cup marked rock. (Vote or comment on this photo)
By the north side of the road which runs east from Kilchrenan to Ardanaiseig is a large cup-marked boulder measuring 2.6 by 1.8 metres and standing one metre high.

It is known locally as the 'Holy Stone' or the 'Slaughter Stone' and it bears on its level upper surface at least 60 plain cups ranging from 20 to 60mm in diameter and from 5 to 15mm in depth. Near the edge of the upper surface a group of four small cups is accompanied by a short arc of what seems to have been an enclosing ring. It is 20mm wide and very shallow. If complete, it would have measured about 180mm in diameter.

Holy stone
Holy stone submitted by caradoc68 : This stone not far from the road as very shallow cup marks on the top. Good stop of point in between cairns. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Holy Stone (North Tyneside)
Holy Stone (North Tyneside) submitted by Anne T : ... but when you look from the top, it's possibly just another stone that has been cut, as the 'socket' for the cross is very thin and narrow. Will try and find out who carried out the field surveying work and make enquiries to see if we can find the real one. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Holy Stone (North Tyneside) submitted by Anne T : Is this the socket stone that has been moved? Looks convincing from the side .....
