MartinJEley visited on 21st Jun 2015 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 4 The site is both interesting and well presented, well worth the journey.
It is operated by Parks Canada in partnership with the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador. The site was in use by the Vikings about 1000 years ago.
The site has an informative interpretation centre through which you access the site, with the ruins and reconstruction being a few minutes walk from the centre. It is worth noting that this site is on the northern limit of the western peninsular of Newfoundland, several hours driving from the closest major towns.
Further details can be found on the websites linked above.
Note: Solar storm confirms Vikings settled in North America exactly 1,000 years ago. Analysis of wood from timber-framed buildings in Newfoundland shows Norse-built settlement 471 years before Columbus. More in the comments on our page
