Rocha dos Bordoes is an immense basalt outcrop on the west coast of the beautiful island of Flores. The characteristic columns stand high above the lush coastal plateau.
The people of Flores note that the much smaller example of this type of geological formation known as the famous Giant's Causeway of Antrim, in Northern Ireland, is now classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
