Healing well in Isle of Man
Healing well. For healing, you have to take a mouthful of water from the well and walk around it sunwise (clockwise, seen from above) twice, or in some accounts, three times, taking a drink each time. A piece of cloth from something that you are wearing has to be torn off, wetted from the well, and hung on a hawthorn next to the well. When the cloth rots and falls from the tree, you will be cured. Probably best not to use man-made fibres, then !
