There are probably over a hundred stones, mostly aligned into three lines, but there are some outliers as well. The longest line is over 200 metres in length and has an orientation of 037°. From this line are two rows of larger blocks, heading off at right angles on bearing 317° for the northern row, which is approximately straight and 60 metres in length. The southern row is about 50 metres away, and heads off at 315°, but curves towards the west away from the baseline. Perhaps these two rows once joined up to form a horseshoe ? South of the main line are three large grey stones, a single one at the west and a pair to the east. These three stones are aligned with each other. There are lots of orchids flowering here, which seems a bit late in the year.

Contemporary of the Alignements de Carnac, the alignments formed in 1776 a set of 600 Menhirs (according to Jean Ogée's dictionary, information taken in an inventory established by the convention in 1793). Unfortunately destruction had already reduced this number to about a hundred menhirs listed in 1883 when classed as a historical monument. In 1928 l’administration des Beaux-Arts, aided by le Conseil départemental du Finistère, la Société Archéologique du Finistère and l’Institut Finistérien d’Etudes Préhistoriques, decided to raise the megaliths still present on the site.
It is a set of 84 monoliths or bases of monoliths, forming two parallel alignments, North-East and South-West, perpendicular to a third, 200 metres long (53 menhirs). The Ensemble draws an angle of 35 degrees from the direction of the sun at the winter solstice. This orientation would the hypothesis of an astronomical character: Georges-Gustave Toudouze associated him with the constellation of pleiades. This is called "ar yar" (the hen), from which perhaps the toponymy of the place called "Lagad-Yar" (the hen's eye). A socio-religious function of the site is not to be excluded. To the north of these alignments, there was a stone block, which served as polissoir today preserved at Musée de la Préhistoire Finistérienne-Penmarc'h

The London Traveller blog writes: Just outside Camaret-sur-Mer is one of the many Neolithic structures in Brittany, the Lagatjar Alignments. The stones were discovered in 1776 when there were apparently c.600 standing stones. By 1883 only c.100 stones remained and today that has been further reduced to 80 stones. The stones are apparently aligned with sunrise at the Winter Solstice and date to 2,500BC.
