Possible Standing Stone in Perthshire

This standing stone is recorded as Canmore site no. 23977, a 1979 entry from which tells us: "some 70 yds from Caisteal Coin nam Bhacain (Caisteal Cona Bhacain) is the Bhacain or Dog Stake. This stone, on a mound near the road, is about 2ft high; whether it is man-made or otherwise is unknown. It is associated with Fingalian legends.

The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) also features a page for this site - see their entry for The Bhacain, Cashlie, Glen Lyon, Perthshire, which gives directions for finding this stone, together with photographs, an old photograph of the stone showing its unusual shape, an image of the 1867 OS map showing the location of the stone, descriptions from a number of 20th century references and local folklore.
