Pollok House Barrow
Pollok House Barrow submitted by spiral3 : Site in South Lanarkshire Scotland Pollok House barrow (Vote or comment on this photo)
The site has very easy access via Pollok Estate and is situated on Pollok Golf Course a five minute walk from the stone bridge. It consists of an artificial mound and has yew trees growing on top, it could be Bronze Age.

I came across details of this site while researching Pollok House.

Canmore site no. 44405

Sat 24th Feb - Online - The Ancient Mounds of London and Glasgow with Kenny Brophy by Andy B on Sunday, 18 February 2024
(User Info | Send a Message)
This Sat (24th Feb) EDGEWAYS presents "The Ancient Mounds of London and Glasgow" with Dr Kenny Brophy from 20:00 GMT on Zoom.

Kenny will take us on an exploration of the mythical ancient mounds of Glasgow, identified by Ludovic Mann...

..and of London, by EO Gordon. Both wrote fantastical books in the first half of the 20th century suggesting not only that these mounds were prehistoric in origin, but that they were arranged in an almost occult ancient geometry. Drawn from fieldwork in both cities.

Kenny Brophy is a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Glasgow, the urban prehistorian and Keeper of Hookland's Stones ♡

Good find, thanks for posting it. There are a few areas of rock art around Glasgow that we don't have photos of (shown in green on the map) if you'd be interested in going to look for it.

Thanks Andy, I already have looked into the rock art site in Rouken Glen park but it was on a golf course (again) and it was very busy at the time. I plan to head up when it will not be so busy. I will see if I can get any pics.
    Cheers
