Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers
Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers submitted by sem : View from above showing the two capstones. It is not sure whether these were covered by a single mound. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Mynydd Llangyndeyrn is a long ridge of high ground now quarried for limestone but which was a focus of activity in the Bronze Age. The area contains cairns stones and two, probably sub-megalithic, burial chambers standing side by side under a rock outcrop to the east. These tombs together are referred to as Bwrdd Arthur but singly as Gwal y Filiast (the better preserved western chamber) and either Mynydd Llangydern or Bwrdd Arthur (!) for the eastern chamber. It is impossible to say whether they are wholly separate monuments or whether they werew enclosed by the same cairn.

Adding slight confusion to the nomenclature the National Monument Record has this to say:"There appear to be two discrete tombs here, however the name Bwrdd Arthur is common to both. The more westerly tomb (Dat Prn1698) is also known as Gwal y Filiast, the more easterly (Dat Prn1699) is named for the mountain."

Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers
Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers submitted by Horatio : Fred Dibnah overlooking the two bronze age burial chambers of Bwrdd Arthur and Gwal y Fiast but collectively known as Bwrdd Arthur. This shows well this high common land area known as Mynydd Llangynderyrn. On the far side or opposing high ground is where several burial mounds and the 'ring cairn' are located if it was a 'ring cairn' as the jury's out in my mind on that one. This high ground...

Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers
Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers submitted by Horatio : The second chamber to the east, this chamber is known as either Bwrdd Arthur or Llangyndeyrn burial chamber to confuse matters. This chamber has a similar size capstone to its adjacent member 2.5m long but as can be seen is much thicker. It lies on its north-eastern edge with two large prone slabs adjacent to either side as possible supporting members at one time.

Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers submitted by Horatio : Part of the Arthur's Table 'complex' (I like to call it) this is the view looking into the part collapsed but better preserved of the two adjacent chambers of Gwal y Filiast, showing its collapsed orthostats where I counted six of these. The capstone is 2.5m long and is still supported (just) about1m off the ground.

Mynydd Llangynderyrn Burial Chambers submitted by Horatio : Bwrdd Arthur (Arthur's Table) as seen from above and looking north towards the summit of Mynydd Llangyndeyrn. The name Bwrdd Arthur is common to both the two tombs as can be seen here but the one in the photo to the right is also known as Gwal y Fiiast. As can be seen by there capstones they would've stood about 4m apart, that being that they where actually two distinct burial chamber and not p...
