Chambered Tomb in Gwynedd. I wrote while away, "When approaching Dolbadarn Castle, my stones radar went into action, spotting a stone atop a higher wooded outcrop; a detour on the way back to the car to investigate was imperative. To me, this looks like the remains of a Neolithic Chambered Tomb, with entrance stones, and inner chamber.

I suspect either a completely misinterpreted group of stones from another historical period, a fortuitous arrangement of natural stones, or most likely, a folly construction from a landowner who liked ancient looking stones (though they usually went for the very structural looking dolmens). I am intrigued."

The Coflein entry is equally uncertain, "A peculiar 'megalithic' structure set on a low hillock overlooking and to the W of Dolbadarn Castle. It is primarily defined by two large orthostatic slabs set parallel to each other some 3m apart forming two sides of a square structure which has low pillars at each corner. Contiguous with the NE corner pillar is a larger 2m high squarish 'standing stone'".

There have been repeated fires within the structure and considerable damage to the location. (My visit 10/04/07).

Note: Visiting Dolbadarn Castle, this uncertain but reasonably convincing group of stones was happened upon. Is this a little known Neolithic Tomb?

Parc Bach
Parc Bach submitted by rogerkread : Interesting site, Coflein's 'summer house' seems no more likely than that it is megalithic when you are there. And what's that other boulder doing halfway down the hill? It surely didn't get there naturally. (Vote or comment on this photo)

I continue to be baffled as to why it is not on the 1880s map, or the modern OS maps! It's just the right person crossing paths with some of these places to bring it to attention of others.

Similarities have been pointed out with Branas Uchaf in the Dee valley

Looks very similar to the Portugese Dolmens I assisted in excavating last year. Excellent find, well spotted ST!
