Situated along a narrow country lane that joins and rises to the east from the equally narrow road to Croesor, the site is said to comprise of a small unenclosed settlement of the Iron Age of Romano British period. The site is said to consist of four possible contemporary hut circles identified by the stone foundations of round houses. The site lies on either side of the narrow lane some 300m beyond Bryn Derw cottage.
Currently very overgrown and difficult to interpret, I found it necessary to remove sections of overgrowth to help identify the walling below. I concentrated my efforts on the most southernly dwelling. However, a second dwelling lay close to it. Both hut circles lay to the north of the lane and had been cut into the natural slope of an outcrop
The southern dwelling had a six/seven meter interior diameter. The northern arc was built up due to the sloping ground so that the height was greater (about 1.20m) to that of the other sides. The second dwelling had a similar diameter but the walling was lower at about 0.40m. The dwellings were close together with a distance of about 3m separating them.
This is a very wooded environment with only a handful of residences along the lane (which is a dead end by the way). Out of courtesy I asked the resident at Bryn Derw cottage for permission to park.
