Fitz's Well submitted by KiwiBetsy : The spring itself is now covered with slabs of granite but the surrounding area is quite marshy. The well became popular as a magic well and was said to be able to predict the future of those who visited at Easter. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Devon

Fitz’s Well lies 1 mile southeast of Okehampton. From the main road through Okehampton turn south into George Street, past the hospital and under the A30 bypass. Then the road climbs to a hairpin bend to the right after which the verge widens on your right. The well and cross are on this wide verge about 250 metres after the hairpin bend.

Eventually they came across this well, drank of it’s waters and broke the spell. In gratitude, they had a cross erected to mark the spring.
