Situated on the eastern flank of Cwm Gelli Iago, the site lies to the north of a rocky knoll that rises from a highland moor terrain. This settlement site consists of two identified hut circles, enclosure walls and clearance cairns all thought to date from the same period, i.e Iron Age/Romano British period. The two identified hut circles lie about 6m apart. I have included a third structure, i.e. a possible hut circle, to this site mainly due to its appearance and its location to the other two hut circles. A further consideration is that only one of the identified two hut circles is clearly definable.
The definable hut circle has an interior diameter of 5.5m and walls of 1.3m thick that are raised to 0.4m. The second, less definable hut would appear to have a larger diameter. The third possible contemporary structure is approximately 30m east of the other two and partially incorporated into the rocky knoll.
The enclosure walls appear more as ridges as opposed to stone walls. The ridges tend to incorporate the clearance cairns suggesting that the clearance cairns may be the original stones that made up the enclosures.
This is an open and wild landscape. The site is not on a public footpath but the track that leads from Cwm Gelli Iago passes a few hundred meters away as it meanders towards the mighty Cnicht towering to the south.
