Ancient Cross in Isle of Man
The Journal of Antiquities features a page for these nine crosses, one of which is in its original position in the churchyard, plus a holy well - see their entry for the Lonan Church Crosses, Isle Of Man. The Journal gives directions for finding this church, together with a brief history of the church and St. Adamnan, to whom this church is dedicated. The Journal also includes a photograph of the wheel-headed cross.
More information for this church can be found at:
Pastscape Monument No 31212: site of a probably 7th-9th century cross, now probably stored in St Lonan's Church, now thought to be in the church;
Pastscape Monument No. 31224: Wheel headed cross in the kirk yard;
Pastscape Monument No. 31209: "A 12th century church located on the site of a keeill, part ruined and part still in use; early medieval lintel graves have been uncovered and fragments of early medieval crosses are stored in the ruined part of the church. The crosses date from the C5-6th and from the C7-9th, and probably indicate the age of the keeill".
The holy well is approx. 150m from the churchyard, so has it's own site page (see nearby sites below).
