At the turn of the last century, there were several megalithic structures in the St Pol-de-Léon region, which have now been destroyed in the persuit of vegetable growing.

Amongst these was the remarkable dolmens de Caravel, believed to have been destroyed in 1940. Yet all is not totally lost, as several photographic records of these structures exist.

Note: Some searching around on the internet has turned up some old pictures of these long lost dolmens. See latest comment.

Its always a shame when interesting linked to sites get removed. However, a simple Google search for "dolmens de Caravel" returns many hits, with some excellent old postcards.

eg http://prehistoric.wikidot.com/les-dolmens-de-caravel from where you can surf about finding others.
