Mountainharry visited on 16th Oct 2021 - their rating: Cond: 5 Amb: 5 Access: 2 Absolutely wonderful. Would recommend! However points to note: access up track is legally only for forestry vehicles and the stone is not on access land (which is fine until you hop the gate only to be face to face with 3 men holding shotguns in the middle of a shoot, they were fine with my trespass and laughed it off, didn't seem bothered I was wandering around!)

Rock Art in Gwynedd
From the B4405 turn left/south after going south through Abergynolwyn, follow the rough track (though it won't do your suspension any favours) through the forest until you come to the end of the track, space for a few cars to park here.
Finding the stone isn't easy amongst the rocky outcrops, look for the remains of a cairn made almost entirely from quartz.

The stone if you find it (took me nearly an hour) is large and flat and rests on another large flat stone. Coflein says it may be a Dolmen capstone (I have doubts), the rock art consists of twenty smooth scars, like the Arrow stones but right next to the incised lines is a worn smooth bowl . It is a most mysterious and perplexing site.
Wonderful views of Cader Idris and the sea at Tywyn.
