The row is 48m long with an azimuth of 45 degrees. Strangely this row is aligned diagonally across the slope of the hill. It does not follow the natural contour of the downhill slope. The horizon height of the cairn from the bottom of the row is 3 degrees giving a declination for the cairn of 29 - The most northerly moorise position of the 18.6 year cycle. It is not alone on Dartmoor for this.
Update August 2019: This stone row is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Cantrell Stone Row. PDW tells us: "lies near the moor gate at Cantrell, Ugborough Moor. The southern row consists of nine stones, one of which is almost buried and one has fallen. The length of the row from the centre of the cairn is 153 feet and the alignment is N44o 20' E. The rows are from 7 to 12 feet apart and the stones are about 5 feet 6 inches apart, centre to centre".
The row is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 441214, and scheduled as Historic England List ID 1017604 (Stone alignment and cairn south-east of Western Beacon).
The Devon and Dartmoor HER also has a record for this row - see MDV2889 (Stone row 400 meters south-east of Western Beacon).
The Stone Rows of Great Britain website also records this row - see their entry for the Cantrell Stone Row, which includes a description, photographs and a plan of the row and its associated cairn.
