Cader Idris is a mountain that's very popular with walkers and outdoor pursuit enthusiasts, hence the multitude of conical walker cairns that litter the environment. There are notices encouraging visitors not to create or add to the cairns but they still do sadly.

The landscape would have provided a suitable setting for funeral cairns during the Bronze Age and it is reasonable to conclude that many cairns would have been badly damaged given the amount of foot traffic over the years.

This site is situated on a grassy slightly sloping lower level to the east of Penygadair (Cader Idris summit) just before the Fox's Path descent. There are three cairns in close proximity to each other. However, they have been badly damaged and conical cairns erected on two of them.

The views from the site are worth the effort to get there.
