Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Clackmannanshire

This now destroyed well is recorded as Canmore ID 47055, which has two entries. The first, from 1927 says: "Lady's Well is a spring well, traditionally supposed to be associated with the Old Church of Tullibody (Name Book 1861). It has no features of special interest. It is 4' in diameter, but is so much filled up with stones and debris that it is now not more than 2' deep." The second, in July 1950, observes: "This well is now stagnant, overgrown, and in poor condition."

The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) has a more recent entry from 2012 - see their entry for Lady’s Well, Tullibody, Clackmannanshire, which tells us this well was "seemingly destroyed by the recent road bypass of the B9140" but shows the well on the OS map of 1866, along with adjacent antiquities.

TNA asks: "I’ve not been able to find out whether the ‘lady’ of this well was a saintly woman of religious importance, or just one of us commoners!  Does anyone know?"

Note: Does anyone have any information, images or drawings to add?
