TheCaptain visited on 26th Feb 2019 - their rating: Cond: 1 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Being such a beautiful day, I walk up to the top of Hound Tor before the sun goes down. Beautiful up here in the low sunlight. With views all around. I even climb up to the top of the bare granite rock tor, grazing my fingers on the rough stone in the process. I am a bit wary of being up here alone, and my legs are giving a bit of trouble getting down, but it was worth it. Didn't see much of an enclosure here, but wasn't looking for one to be honest.

Possible Tor Enclosure in Devon

This site is situated on a hilltop in the high moorland toward the east edge of Dartmoor. A poorly preserved and difficult to see stone wall incorporates outcrops of the tor (Oswald et al. 2001, 159).

The outcrops themselves are among the most impressive of those found within the tor enclosure group. Situated a little way in from the east edge of Dartmoor. Oriented to the east.

There is a sharp drop and reasonable views to the east, but the ground climbs on the moor-side and the surrounding higher tors block views in this direction.

Hound Tor Enclosure submitted by Andy B : Hound Tor The tor has plenty of attractive rock piles to explore. Even though the alignment of many of them trends NNW-SSE, as here, there is a clear avenue (a frequent feature of tors) between the two main parts of the tor which is aligned east-west. These dramatic rocks are on the southern side. Copyright Derek Harper and licensed for reuse under the Creative Commons Licence.

I've got loads of pics of this village but thought it was Saxon or Medieval, so wouldn't qualify.

I'd have thought the archaeologist for Dartmoor National Parks Authority would have the answer.
Am away for a few days so can't check for you now, Andy.
