SandyG visited on 13th Apr 2018 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 3 Access: 2 Plenty of car parking is available at Brendon Two Gates at SS 76510 43254. From here head north for a short distance along the road verge to SS 76505 43285 and then take the footpath leading east to SS 78024 43550. The stones are situated to the south below the slope. The footpath may be rather soft underfoot in places.

Hoccombe Hill (E) submitted by TheCaptain : In the deepest, darkest depths of Exmoor, can be found the remains of this stone setting, which is probably hardly ever seen or known by anybody. (Vote or comment on this photo)
In the deepest depths of Exmoor, several kilometres to the northeast of Brendon Two Gates, can be found the remains of this stone setting. It is well down the valleyside, on a sort of diagonal flatter bit, to the south of the main trackway along Hoccombe Hill.

I found four stones in an irregular quadrangle, the stones are up to two feet high, and spaced between 5 and 10 metres apart. A couple of the stones are almost lost within the heather on the uphill slope.

It would not surprise me if there were other stones here associated with this stone setting. It is possible to imagine a row of stones running through the lower two standing stones, formed with other prostrate slabs, and sort of running up the diagonal hillside.
