The interior of the temple should be open, but even with the information boards saying it was open, the gates were locked on our visit on June 25th in the afternoon. A security guard was sat in a deck chair, in the entrance, well recessed from the gates flanking either side, no explanation offered as to why the interior wasn't accessible - there are displays and hieroglyphs therein.

There are some very good views over Madrid from the far end of the temple; the trees here also give some shade and respite from the brutal heat of a summer afternoon in the capital.
