Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Highlands

This is a stone built wellhouse sitting beside a path along the River Helmsdale. Water from the well flows across the track and into the river. The well is located just across the river from the site of St John the Baptist’s Chapel whose probable remains consist of a low earth bank in a burial ground.
