Simondston Cairn
Simondston Cairn submitted by sem : Current Occupants Site in Mid Glamorgan Wales It was with a delicious taste of irony that I discovered the current occupants of the site of (destroyed) Simondston Cairn produce among other things... standing stones! (Vote or comment on this photo)
Destroyed cairn in Mid Glamorgan. Was a low circular stoney mound 13m in diameter. Excavated by Sir Cyril Fox in April 1937

At the centre of the cairn was a rectangular cist containing two inverted urns, each containing the cremated bodies of an adult and a child. One of the stones forming the cist had five pecked cup-marks. There were a number of secondary cremation burials plus flints and a bronze pin found here.
Now lies under a factory!
