Carn Wen - The Druid's circle
Carn Wen - The Druid's circle submitted by Bladup : Part of the kerb at Carn Wen. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Carn Wen and the Druid's Circle are attached to each other, Carn Wen is a much robbed cairn, 7.9m in diameter and 1.0m high, having the remains of a substantial bouldered kerb and cist. 'A battle-axe, a bracelet and some other relics' were recovered in 1844 and a large erect stone at that time was noted at the centre of the monument.

The Carn Wen adjoins 'the Druid's Circle' on the N.

The Druid's Circle is an incomplete banked enclosure (a possible ringcairn]), c.15m in diameter, having a smaller circle (A possible little hut, but like Coflein says - The presence of ritual and possibly settlement features on the same site is unusual.). It's 3.5m in diameter, and is within and adjoining the S side.

The site adjoins Carn Wen to the S, whilst three cairns have been recorded from 20 to 110m to the NE (I could only see one]).
