Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans submitted by TimPrevett : Reconstruction of Iron Age huts at St Fagan's Museum of Welsh life, W from Cardiff; when I visited, there was actually an archaeologist inside the smoking hut giving talks & demonstrations about 'celtic life'. A recommended visit. (2 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans
Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans submitted by pab : An example of the internal wall painting. As explained on the sites to which I have given links with other pitures, these wall paintings were not merely guessed at when the church was redecorated in its 1510-1530 'livery': there were many original pre-reformation pictures preserved under the plasterwork. They are temendously powerful - these photos just do not do them justice. (3 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans submitted by pab : Site in South Glamorgan Wales The 'latest' addition to the magnificent buildings recontructed at St Fagans is the 13th Church of St Teilo. Re-opened in a ceremony on October 2007, this church has been presented in its pre-reformation interior mode. The history of the re-siting of the church can be followed in either the BBC Wales site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southwest/sites/inpictures/... (Vote or comment on this photo)

Entry to the whole site is free, with a charge for parking (£2.50 in Feb 2008). In addition to the wonderful buildings throughout the site, there are many fascinating displays of techniques used for conservation etc, and re-enactments, especially during holiday periods. Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans submitted by pab : The altar in St Teilo's Church, opened at the Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans in October 2007 after years of painstaking recontruction. The wall relief on the left of the altar is also visible through a 'squint hole', found in several ancient churches in south and west Wales - as shown in another posting.

Take the Family & they'll have the BEST Time! by Anonymous on Tuesday, 07 January 2014
Hi,

If cash is still tight after the XMas craziness, then take your family along to St Fagans museum. It's FREE and don't think thats because it isn't good. It IS absolutely Brilliant!!!

I am lucky enough to live approx 3 miles from it, but I know the place like the back of my hand, yet it still intrigues me every time I visit.

Admission to the museum is free. The museum is an excellent day out although the iron-age buildings and wooden henge are only a small fraction of the buildings that have been reconstructed (or reassembled) in the grounds.
