Misc. Earthwork in Cumbria

Unexcavated earthwork - possible iron age enclosure?

The entry for Pastscape Monument ID 9445 describes this site as "Earthwork remains of a hilltop double banked sub-rectangular enclosure with no internal features; no dating evidence, possibly Roman or post-Roman. Scheduled."

The entry on Historic England List Entry 1007145 classes this as a 'native settlement' but gives very little detail: "The monument includes the remains of a settlement enclosure, situated at the north end of a north-south ridge with views to the north, east and west. The enclosure is D-shaped and measures approximately 64m by 55m. It is surrounded by a ditch with an inner bank and an outer counterscarp bank with causewayed entrances on the east and west sides."
