Stone Circle in Shropshire

Another lost Shropshire circle remains lost! Largely destroyed by 1883, this was probably originally a bowl barrow, with a diameter of around 100 feet. Revealed and damaged by penetrative ploughing in 1945 and again ten years later, some structure was revealed - but now there is nothing to be seen, it seems.

Transcribing the grid ref places it in lower down on multimap, but putting it onto the GPS places it higher up on the crest of the hill. If this was a barrow a ridge-top situation would make more sense.

Many thanks and credit to Stu / Stubob for pointing out the reference to this.

Grey Stones (Barningham Moor)
Grey Stones (Barningham Moor) submitted by Anne T : Looking virtually east across the settlement, from its southern most side. The circular bank, which incorporates the stone blocks, can just be made out. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Grey Stones (Barningham Moor)
Grey Stones (Barningham Moor) submitted by Anne T : The large boulders positioned on one of the banks of this sub-oval settlement can be seen. The rocks in more or less the the centre of the photo include the group with Barningham Moor 97 (ERA=900) in. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Grey Stones (Barningham Moor)
Grey Stones (Barningham Moor) submitted by Anne T : Looking east-north-east across the Grey Stones settlement. With the deep heather and bracken, the layout of the settlement is a little confused, although easier to make out with the naked eye than in the photograph, where the lighting was less than ideal.
